The NOVA Baseball Magazine strives to fill a void in the media coverage of baseball in Northern Virginia after the decline in recent years of the community newspaper industry. The magazine’s staff strives to promote and cover the game at all levels, providing our readers with both an objective and subjective viewpoint of the game in our area.
Established in February 2015, the magazine has quickly grown to become “Your Source for Baseball News in Northern Virginia”. The magazine covers youth, travel, high school, collegiate and professional baseball in the counties of Arlington, Fairfax, Fauquier, Loudoun, Prince William, Spotsylvania and Stafford and the cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Fairfax, Fredericksburg, Manassas and Manassas Park.
NOVA Baseball Magazine was founded by Joey Kamide, who serves as the outlet’s editor and publisher. Kamide has worked in the sports media industry for over two decades, getting his start as the sports editor and editor-in-chief for his newspaper at Herndon High School and then as the sports editor at Broadside, the student newspaper at George Mason University. He has since worked in the local newspaper industry at The Observer Newspapers, Fairfax Times and the Connection Newspapers, as the managing editor of Gameday Magazine and as a freelancer writer for the Associated Press. Additionally, Kamide has worked in broadcast media as a co-host on “The Coaches Corner” radio show and as a high school basketball and football commentator for the Fairfax Sports Network and The Gameday Nation broadcast network. As a baseball coach, he coached for 10 seasons as a high school varsity assistant at Madison, Centreville and Oakton, coached abroad in Hungary and the Czech Republic, and has coached for nearly 15 years at the travel and showcase level.
