Year in Review: MVP Terps 2023 National is 2018 Middle School Travel Team of the Year

January 1 - MVP Terps 2023 National has been named the magazine’s 2018 Middle School Travel Team of the Year after an impressive fall campaign.

The 2018 Teams of the Year are sponsored by Pitchers Edge in Vienna.

Coached by Fairfax High School skipper Rick Freeman, the Terps won 21 of 25 games this fall. They were the only nominee submitted by area coaches or team administrators.

In the eighth story in our Year in Review series, the magazine summarizes each of the nominees for our Middle School Travel Team of the Year:

Record: 21-4 fall
Team Summary: The Terps averaged 10.2 runs per game and hit .400 as a team for the fall, winning the Northern Virginia Travel Baseball League (NVTBL) Columbus Day Tournament and advancing to the final at the Complete Game Fall Championship. They had a 12-game winning streak and went unbeaten in NVTBL play behind a lineup paced by Jonny Farmelo, Andrew Kang and Bryson Moore and a pitching staff anchored by Moore, J.B. Manarchuk and Matthew Colella.
